Community Engagement and Outreach Coordinator Job Summary
The Community Engagement and Outreach Coordinator provides community engagement and outreach activities for both the Louisiana Clinical and Translational (LACaTS) Center and the Center for Minority Health and Health Disparities Research and Education. The Coordinator works with community groups and health care providers and coordinates the activities of the LACaTS’ New Orleans Community Advisory Board and supports the Baton Rouge and Shreveport Community Advisory Boards.
For the CMHDRE the coordinator facilitates collaboration with community organizations and coordinates the activities of both the External (Scientific) Advisory Board and the Community Advisory Board. The incumbent will coordinate internal and external meetings of the CMHDRE and the CEOR of LACaTS and provides administrative support to the Director of CMHDRE and the LACaTS’ CEOR. AA/EOE
- Master’s degree (MPH or MHA) or equivalent experience in community or organizational engagement
- Extensive community engagement experience
- Knowledge of Community Based Participatory Research Principles and Methods
- Strong organizational skills and capacity to coordinate health education and promotion program activities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Proficient use of personal computer, Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Suite
- Serves as the community liaison for the Center related to new and ongoing community projects
- Coordinates, writes and submits progress reports and renewal applications for endowment funding in a timely manner
- Facilitates meetings of the community advisory boards operated under the auspices of the Center
- Provides administrative and operational support to the activities of the LACaTS Community Engagement and Outreach Resource (CEOR) Core
- Works collaboratively with representatives from government agencies, community organizations, and businesses to mitigate health disparities and improve health outcomes in Louisiana
- Acts as the liaison between the Center and the community, establishing and maintaining trusted bi-directional relationships
- Maintains accessible and complete records regarding resources, key contacts, evaluation data, meetings, number of individuals reached, etc.
- Leads and coordinates aspects of various educational outreach events in the communities served
