The Social Justice Fellow supports the Louis

A. Berry Institute for Civil Rights, Human Rights, and Social Justice by advancing its mission through education, research, advocacy, and community engagement. Working under the direction of the Institute Director, the Fellow develops and coordinates programs, conducts legal and policy research, assists with community outreach initiatives, supports experiential learning opportunities, and contributes to projects that promote civil rights, human rights, and social justice.

This position collaborates with faculty, students, community organizations, and institutional partners to expand the Institute's impact through scholarship, programming, and public service.

• Coordinate, plan, and support educational programs, conferences, workshops, lectures, and community engagement events that advance the mission of the Louis
  
  A. Berry Institute.
• Conduct legal, policy, and interdisciplinary research related to civil rights, human rights, and social justice initiatives, including preparing reports, briefs, publications, and educational materials.
• Develop and maintain relationships with community organizations, governmental agencies, nonprofit partners, faculty, students, and other stakeholders to support Institute initiatives.
• Assist with grant writing, fundraising efforts, and the development of proposals to secure external funding for Institute programs.
• Support experiential learning opportunities by coordinating student engagement, certificate program activities, internships, clinics, and research projects.
• Maintain Institute records, databases, historical archives, websites, mailing lists, and program documentation to ensure accurate reporting and effective communication.
• Create and distribute promotional materials, newsletters, website content, and social media communications to increase awareness of Institute activities and accomplishments.
• Assist in monitoring participant progress for Institute programs and certificate initiatives while maintaining accurate program records and communications.
• Coordinate logistical support for meetings, events, travel, purchasing, requisitions, scheduling, and administrative operations.
• Collaborate with faculty, scholars, and research assistants on special projects, publications, advocacy initiatives, and community-based research.
• Participate in the recruitment, selection, and onboarding of research assistants, student workers, and program participants as assigned.
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

• Associate's degree from an accredited college or university
• Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school.
• Experience in civil rights, human rights, social justice, legal advocacy, grant writing, community outreach, or higher education programming is strongly preferred.
• Excellent research, writing, communication, and project management skills are highly desirable.
