This position provides professional nursing care to patients/clients or to provide education to nursing or medical staff. Position DetailsAppointment Type: CLASSIFIED WAE (without benefits, or promotions) – “when actually employed” position.
RequirementsPossession of a current Louisiana Registered Nurse license or a temporary permit or multi-state license issued by a Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC/eNLC) state to practice as a registered nurse plus one of the following:
- Two years of experience as a licensed registered nurse; OR
- A bachelor’s degree in nursing plus one year of experience as a licensed registered nurse; OR
- A master’s degree in nursing or public health plus one year of experience as a licensed registered nurse; OR
- A doctorate in nursing or public health.

Job Duties and Responsibilities- Provides skilled monitoring for patients requiring biomedical equipment (e.g., ventilators, volumetric pumps, cardio scopes).
- Interprets complex data (e.g., blood gases, other lab profiles) and implements interventions based on interpretation. Evaluates nursing care delivered by other staff and provides on-site directions.
- Makes recommendations to a treatment team regarding hospitalization or continued outpatient care based on assessment of the patient’s mental, emotional, and physical condition.
- Conducts initial intake interview and assessment of patients/clients.
- Any special skills or license applicable.
