Nurse Extern - Nursing Internship

The Nurse Extern I supports patient care under RN supervision by performing direct care activities and assisting with hospitalized patients. Key duties include recognizing life‑threatening situations, assisting with basic life support, observing and reporting abnormal symptoms or changes in patient condition, and following aseptic techniques and safety protocols. They help with specimen collection, document activities accurately, and participate in departmental meetings and training.

• Supports patient care under RN supervision by performing direct care activities and assisting with hospitalized patients.
• Recognizes life‑threatening situations and assists with basic life support.
• Observes and reports abnormal symptoms or changes in patient condition.
• Follows aseptic techniques and safety protocols.
• Handles specimen collection and documents activities accurately.
• Participates in departmental meetings and training.

• Current enrollment or recent graduation from an accredited nursing program.
• Proficiency in basic nursing tasks and completion of clinical coursework.
• Certification in BLS required within two weeks.
• Prior hospital experience preferred.

• Position is PRN, per diem.
• Adheres to hospital policies and HIPAA regulations.
