Nurse Practitioner – Oncology Lung Nodule Program

LCMC Health is seeking a dedicated and clinically driven Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our Oncology Lung Nodule Program at University Medical Center New Orleans. This is a unique opportunity to work in a specialized, multidisciplinary oncology setting focused on early detection, coordinated care, and improved outcomes for patients with pulmonary nodules.
Position SummaryThe Nurse Practitioner is responsible for providing comprehensive outpatient care to patients within the Lung Nodule Program. This role includes performing physical examinations, implementing preventive health measures, and developing treatment strategies in collaboration with physicians and multidisciplinary teams. The NP evaluates patient responses to care and ensures continuity and quality across the care continuum.
Key ResponsibilitiesPatient Care
- Provide high-quality, patient-centered care in an outpatient oncology setting
- Perform physical examinations and preventive health measures within established guidelines
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care
- Respond promptly to patient calls and messages, ensuring same-day completion
- Maintain accurate and timely patient records, including documentation of all encounters
- Monitor patients for signs of abuse or neglect and report per policy
- Recognize and respond appropriately to medical emergencies
- Coordinate care plans and continuously evaluate outcomes to ensure quality care
Compliance
- Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and regulatory requirements
- Ensure strict adherence to HIPAA policies and patient confidentiality
- Complete required continuing education to maintain clinical competence
Professionalism & Leadership
- Demonstrate commitment to LCMC Health’s values and patient experience standards
- Provide leadership and support to clinical team members
- Communicate effectively with clinic leadership, escalating issues and proposing solutions
Safety & Infection Control
- Support compliance with safety, infection control, and quality standards
- Implement standard and transmission-based precautions
- Ensure a safe, clean clinical environment for patients and staff
- Report safety hazards or concerns to leadership promptly
Collaboration
- Participate in hiring, disciplinary, and performance-related decisions for clinical staff
- Attend daily huddles, provider meetings, and care coordination discussions
- Engage in ongoing performance improvement and quality initiatives
Education
- Master’s Degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program
Licensure & Certifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license – Louisiana State Board of Nursing
- Current Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license – Louisiana State Board of Nursing
- Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – American Heart Association
