Job Overview
This job handles pre‑implant, post‑implant, and/or inpatient mechanical circulatory support. It acts as a patient advocate and educator, promoting optimum patient independence, self‑care, and rehabilitation. The role is an integral member of the mechanical circulatory support/transplant team, assisting transplant physicians by independently monitoring selected patients, managing outpatient clinics, and periodically reviewing all patients with physicians. Care is provided to individuals of all age groups.

Education- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (Required).
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing (Preferred).
- 3 years of related experience with an associate degree in nursing (Required).
- 2 years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree in nursing (Preferred).
- Current registered nurse (RN) license in state of practice (Required).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association.
- Certification in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) from the American Heart Association.
- Certification in a clinical specialty area (Preferred).
- Proficiency in using computers, software, and web‑based applications.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Ability to travel between facilities and work on call 24/7.
- Performs pre/post implant clinical activities.
- Educates patients on procedures.
- Educates nursing staff/colleagues.
- Participates in activities for professional growth.
- Ensures compliance and participates in quality initiatives.
- Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including respect for privacy, method of introduction, and communication style.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Heavy Work. Duties performed routinely require exposure to blood, body fluid, and tissue. The incumbent works in a patient care area and has an occupational risk for exposure to communicable diseases and hazardous medications or waste.
The risk level of exposure may increase depending on the essential job duties of the role.
