Quick Visit Urgent Care is here to provide accessible, affordable healthcare in your hometown for all ages. We offer a broad range of services such as onsite x‑ray, health management, cold and flu treatment, sutures, and much more. We are currently looking for a full‑time Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to become a part of our team!

Overall Responsibility

You’ll be responsible for providing basic clinical care to patients commensurate with your medical education. Your duties include performing initial clinical evaluations and urgent care procedures, preparing patients for continued evaluation by advanced registered nurse practitioners, taking a brief history, establishing vital signs, and recording appropriate documentation. Additional job duties include preparing exam rooms, taking vital signs, administering injections, drawing blood, running labs, performing EKGs, ordering supplies, and more.

Tasks And Responsibilities
  • Greets patients in a polite, prompt, and helpful manner.
  • Triages patient by recording all vitals, patient medical history, and accurately entering data into the EMR.
  • Prepares new and existing patient charts with appropriate forms, ensuring copies are dated and initiated, and places them in the patient file.
  • Retrieves required signatures on forms.
  • Collects, verifies, and copies patient insurance information.
  • Maintains medical records according to policy, copying and transferring records when indicated.
  • Maintains a clean and orderly office and waiting area.
  • Orders supplies for the office within budgetary guidelines.
  • Follows protocols that provide medical authority when indicated in providing care.
  • Performs complete physical exams and assessments of patients including urgent, emergent, and non‑urgent presentations.
  • Selects, orders, and performs tests and procedures to augment physical findings.
  • Defines and documents differential diagnoses.
  • Writes orders on physician order sheets for tests, procedures, and implements and manages therapies in accordance with nursing protocols.
  • Performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as deemed necessary and appropriate for the plan of care, in collaboration with supervising physicians.
  • Interprets data and diagnostic results for an appropriate course of action, including but not limited to blood gases, radiology, EKG, in collaboration with supervising physicians.
  • Notates findings and treatment courses in the inpatient chart, including follow‑up notes.
  • Completes all lab tests as ordered by the provider on staff.
  • Assists with patient registration, clinic patient callbacks, and other duties as needed.
  • Maintains regular and sustained attendance.
Skills And Attributes
  • Ability to accurately read and write medical terminology.
  • Ability to work all shifts, including day, evening, and weekend hours as needed.
  • Ability to escort or transport patients by wheelchair or stretcher when appropriate.
  • Basic computer skills, including familiarity with electronic medical records.
  • Detail‑oriented with excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients and medical staff.

Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent and graduate of an accredited program.
  • LPN – License in the State of Iowa.
  • BLS required.
  • Adult and Child Mandatory Reporter Training.
  • 1 year experience preferred.
