Job Summary
This position provides direct patient care, including IV therapy, for assigned patients within the Licensed Practical Nurse Act framework, under the direction of a Registered Nurse. The LPN directs and assists ancillary nursing staff, and collaborates with the multidisciplinary team to deliver high‑quality personalized patient care.
Responsibilities- Effectively uses the Nursing Process—data gathering, planning, and evaluation—to deliver patient care based on physical, psycho/social, educational, and safety criteria appropriate to patient age.
- Provides care to patients, guests, and family members, ensuring a high‑quality patient experience.
- Communicates effectively and professionally with patients, staff, and family.
- Adapts to rapid change positively throughout the day as unit or department needs shift.
- Manages personal professional development and maintains required clinical knowledge, technical skills, training, and credentials.
- Completes other related duties as required by management.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience managing confidential information and working in a fast‑paced environment with minimal supervision.
- Current LPN license in the state of practice.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
- IV Therapy credentials.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Strong time‑management and self‑directed work habits.
- Good judgment and interpersonal skills.
- Delegation skills.
The role requires heavy physical effort, including occasional exertion of 50 to 100 pounds, frequent exertion of 25 to 50 pounds, and continuous exertion of 10 to 20 pounds to move objects. Duties involve walking or standing for significant periods, pushing or pulling arm or leg controls, and maintaining a production‑rate pace that may involve constant pushing or pulling. Exposure to blood, body fluids, communicable diseases, hazardous medications, and hazardous waste is anticipated.
The position demands light work classification but may be physically demanding due to the nature of patient care and environmental factors.
