Nursing Assistant

Our mission at Louisiana Veterans Homes is to serve the veteran population of Louisiana through nursing assistant services in an atmosphere of respect and compassion.

We are hiring a Nursing Assistant—Level 1 or Level 2—to provide care in one of four units in a 156‑bed long‑term care facility.

• Six months of experience or training in patient care; OR
• Possession of a current Certified Nursing Assistant certificate; OR
• Completion of an accredited Registered Nursing, Practical Nursing, Medical Assistant, or Emergency Medical Technician Program.

Note:

Positions at facilities receiving certain Medicaid or Medicare funds require applicants to possess a current Certified Nursing Assistant certificate.

• Nursing aide: bathe/groom patients, distribute clean linen, wash, dry, fold, and store patient clothing; clean equipment such as whirlpool tubs and weight scales.
• Quality assurance: promote continuous improvement in nursing assistant care, delivery, and adherence to policy and procedure standards.
• Report resident complaints and incidents, collaborating with the Nursing Assistant Supervisor to ensure care and resident safety.
• Nursing assistant services: escort/transport patients to examinations, clinics, recreation sites, and other areas as needed.

• Compensation:
  Special Entrance Rate—Nursing Assistant 1: $1,099.20 / $13.74 per hour;
  Nursing Assistant 2: $1,176.00 / $14.70 per hour; plus premium pay of $5.00 per hour for hours worked.
• Work Schedule:
  
  6 a.m. – 6:30 p.m. or 6:00 p.m. – 6:30 a.m., including every other weekend and some holidays.
