RN - PACU

This position is for a travel RN at AYA-Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans. The shift is from 08:00 AM to 04:00 PM, with 5 shifts per week for a total of 40 scheduled hours. The assignment starts on 08/03/2026 and ends on 11/02/2026, lasting 13 weeks. Please ensure traveler is aware of the following:
Upon accepting an assignment and starting your role, your unit manager may assign you to an "Emergency Team" where there will be an expectation to stay at the facility until after the event passes or be part of the relief team. Specific details pertaining to pay will be relayed on each emergency event, as impacts vary. By signing your travel contract to take a position with Ochsner Health, you accept the above and will report as assigned by your immediate unit manager if an emergency event were to occur.

You should not apply for a role at Ochsner Health if you are not comfortable with the above.

Candidates must be comfortable floating to pediatric PACU as needed. Supports patients for all major surgical services. Unit supports all surgical/procedural populations with exception to patients requiring critical care services. Regional anesthesia, ECT. Nurses care for pre op, Phase I and Phase 2 recovery, pediatric and adult population. This department provides pre/post op care to patients in a total of 34 OR's on 2 floors.

The 1st floor MHSC has 6 OR's, 2 cysto suites, a shared Pediatric GI/Lithotripsy room, as well as preps/recovers cases for CT/MRI. This section has high volume of pediatric patients. The 2nd floor surgery setting has 28 OR's and services cases from Endoscopy, Interventional Radiology, and pulmonary lab. Candidates should be prepared to care for patients of all ages in both pre op and phase 1 and phase 2 recovery.

Special equipment includes Hoyer lift, bladder scanner, accuvein. Preferred candidate will have background in PACU or Pre/Post Op experience. Patient ratio is 1:2. Two weekends per contract are scheduled. Epic experience required. Required certifications include ACLS, BCLS, PALS.

Submittals:
Low. Job requirements include previous charge experience, years of experience, patient ratio experience, charting system experience, community hospital experience, LTAC experience, trauma level experience, travel experience required, certifications, skills, unit details, staffing and scheduling, facility and patient care details.

Travel compliance:
Facility does not accept local travelers. Must be over 65 miles (address on driver’s license to site address). Must have 2 years experience in specialty for all locations. (New Orleans operating room req. 3 years). NO CALL IN! RTO must be on profile and brought up in the interview or there is a high chance offer's will be rescinded. Compact or LA license in hand upon submittal.

Allied candidates booked with pending license
- Candidate must apply for Allied Health licensure within 72 hours of signing. Orientation held 5 days a week. References:
Not required for submission, however 2 Manager/Supervisor references will be required to obtain clearance to start contract. Recruiter, please obtain Manager/Supervisor contact information prior to submission. Charge RNs are NOT acceptable. PDF format. AHA certifications are required. AWHONN Intermediate is required for L&D RN. CPI required for all CNA. ER nurses must have CPI, or be able to get it before start.

This cert is somewhat difficult to get, so please be prepared for this. NURSYS Reports for RNs must be sent with profile. Please ensure that the NURSYS is up to date (within 4 weeks of submission date). Resources who worked as permanent staff or in-house agency contractors must be separated from Ochsner Health System for 1 full year before they can return as travel.

Modules are billable. Modules are completed during orientation and factored in orientation hours. Modules are recorded via facility.
