Rayburn Correctional Center is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented individual to join the team in the Nursing Department as a Registered Nurse! You could join the group of other medical professionals who perform the nursing and care of inmates within a state correctional facility. Possession of a current Louisiana Registered Nurse license or a temporary permit or multi-state license issued by a Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC/eNLC) state to practice as a registered nurse.

Job Duties:
  • Provide direct patient care, including administration of medications, IV therapies, blood products, parenteral nutrition, and central line treatments under the guidance of a senior RN.
  • Assistindevelopingandimplementingnursing care plans tailoredtotheneedsofpatientsinassignedunits.
  • Conductregularpatient rounds toassessphysicalandmentalhealth,documentobservations,andcommunicatechangestothehealthcareteam.
  • Receiveandcarryoutphysicians’ orders,coordinatingwithotherdepartmentsasneededtoensurecomprehensivepatientcare.
  • Supportphysiciansduringpatient examinationsanddocumentdetailedmedicalandmentalhealthhistories.
  • Respondeffectivelytoemergency code situations,providingskilledcaretostabilizepatients.
  • Educateandinstructpatientsonhealth, hygiene, and self-administration of prescribed medications,promotingsafetyandindependence.
  • Administer medications and treatments safely, accurately, and in compliance with laws, regulations, and clinical policies.
Position-Specific Details:

Appointment Type: CLASSIFIED WAE. This position is a ‘when actually employed’ (WAE) position without benefits. Incumbents in this position may not work more than 1,245 hours or 1 year, whichever comes first.

Compensation:

Salary depends on level of experience.

    • This is a 24 hour facility.
