Job SummaryThis nursing leadership position supports patient care within the framework of the Nurse Practice Act, ANA Code for Nurses, and scope and standards of practice. The nurse leader delegates, directs, and assists licensed and ancillary team members, maintains accountability for quality patient outcomes, and supports the organization’s nursing philosophy.
Job Duties- Effectively uses the nursing process in the delivery of patient care.
- Assesses learning needs and implements teaching strategies appropriate for the diverse needs of the patient, family and other groups or disciplines.
- Communicates, delegates, and manages nursing team resources (human and fiscal) properly and serves as a leader and partner on the interdisciplinary team.
- Uses data, information, and knowledge to evaluate and promote change in order to achieve optimal outcomes.
- Embraces concepts and behaviors that enhance customer satisfaction and employee morale and improvement in the profession of nursing.
- Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Required – Registered nurse diploma.
Preferred – Associate or bachelor’s degree in nursing.
Work ExperienceRequired – 1 year.
CertificationsRequired – Current RN license in the state of practice. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications from the American Heart Association.
Preferred – Certification in a clinical specialty area.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)- Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Good organizational and time management skills and ability to be self-directed.
- Ability to demonstrate good judgement.
Heavy Work – Exerting 50 to 100 lbs of force occasionally, 25 to 50 lbs frequently, or 10 to 20 lbs constantly. Duties require standing, walking, lifting, and exposure to blood, body fluid, tissue, potential hazardous medications or waste, and risk of communicable diseases.
