New Grad Nurse RN; Fall - Med Surg Oncology

Overview

Your job is more than a job. Your calling as an Outpatient Oncology Nurse is personal. You build relationships with each patient and support them from day one through the end of their treatment journey. You provide compassionate care and stand with patients and families as they navigate the emotional highs and lows of cancer care. The role focuses on delivering thoughtful, patient-centered nursing in an oncology outpatient setting.

• Prioritize, coordinate, and manage outpatient treatment of cancer-related health issues.
• Administer individualized care plans for chemotherapy and infusions while monitoring vitals, medications, and symptoms.
• Provide emotional support and maintain a safe environment for patients, families, and staff.
• Monitor and engage with patients, families, and the care team regarding significant events, changes in condition, or questions/concerns.
• Monitor and adhere to Joint Commission infection control and environment of care requirements.
• Ensure continuity of care, effective communications, and an exceptional patient experience.
• Advise and consult with supervision when unable to complete assignments promptly, effectively, or safely.
• Educate patients and families using appropriate resources and continuum of care services.
• Contribute to the team by assisting others without being asked.

• Minimum:
  Current nursing license to practice in Louisiana as defined by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing.
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification.
• 18 months of outpatient/inpatient oncology experience (required).
• Preferred: BSN and oncology nurse certification.
