Elayn Hunt Correctional Center is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented individual to join the team in the Nursing Department as a Licensed Practical Nurse! You could join the group of other medical professionals who perform the nursing and care of inmates within a state correctional facility. Possession of a current Louisiana Practical Nurse license, a temporary permit, or a multi-state license issued by a Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC/eNLC) state.

Job Duties:

• Provide direct patient care, including comfort, hygiene, safety, nutrition, and overall well-being, under RN or senior LPN guidance.
• Monitor and assess patients, promptly reporting changes in physical or mental status to the healthcare team.
• Collect specimens, perform diagnostic tests, and accurately record vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure).
• Administer medications and treatments safely, following established protocols and documenting care accurately.
• Participate in shift handovers, ensuring continuity of care and clear communication with the team.
• Assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges, maintaining safety and efficiency.
• Respond to emergencies, including performing CPR and first aid as needed.
• Manage inventory and supplies, requesting and restocking medications and equipment to support patient care.

Position-Specific Details:

Appointment Type: PROBATION, or PROMOTION OF A PERMANENT, CLASSIFIED LOUISIANA STATE EMPLOYEE

• Current permanent status classified LA State employees may be required to accept a probational appointment if accepted.
• An employee selected for a promotion may be required to serve a trial detail prior to being permanently promoted.
• This posting may also be used to fill a vacancy as a temporary job appointment. If filled as a temporary job appointment, should a permanent position become available, the employee may be converted to a probational appointment.

Compensation:
This position has a Special Entrance Rate (SER) at each level. However, the salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.

• Licensed Practical Nurse 1 has an SER of $19.48 per hour
• Licensed Practical Nurse 2 has an SER of $20.84 per hour
• Licensed Practical Nurse 3 has an SER of $22.30 per hour
