American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Oncology RN for a night shift assignment requiring Epic experience and 2 years of specialty experience.
Details- Work on an Oncology unit within a hospital setting
- Patient population includes Hematology, Medical Oncology, Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT), and Gynecologic & Surgical Oncology patients
- Care provided in a 7-bed positive pressure wing for BMT and acute leukemia patients
- Bedside CVC placements and bone marrow biopsies performed on the unit
- Utilizes Epic-integrated Alaris IV pumps, barcode medication administration, SCD machines, and Alaris feeding pumps
- 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio
- Night shift schedule, 4x12-hour shifts from 18:45 to 7:15
- Every other weekend coverage required
- Floating required
- No call-in requirement
- Active Compact or Louisiana RN license required in hand upon submission
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required (AHA certifications only)
- ONS certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years of experience in the specialty required
- Epic charting system experience required
- Skills in IV therapy/phlebotomy, accessing/managing ports, and starting/maintaining IVs required
- Experience with oncology-specific care, including chemotherapy administration and monitoring, preferred
- Experience with central line blood draws, PICC line management, and blood product administration preferred
- Experience managing colostomy/ileostomy care and feeding tubes preferred
- Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation/management, and rapid response/code teams preferred
- Up-to-date NURSYS report required with candidate profile
- Provide direct patient care for hematology, oncology, BMT, and surgical oncology patients, including chemotherapy administration and monitoring
- May be assigned to an Emergency Team during facility emergency events, requiring the nurse to remain onsite until the event passes or serve as part of a relief team
- Orientation held five days a week
- Two Manager/Supervisor references (not Charge RNs) required to obtain clearance to start, though not required at time of consideration
- Must live more than 65 miles from the facility to be eligible for the position
- Candidates must not have worked as permanent staff or in-house agency contractors at the facility within the past year
- RTO must be disclosed and discussed during the interview process
