Description

American Traveler is hiring an Oncology RN with Epic experience and at least 2 years of specialty experience for a Day shift Med/Surg-Oncology position requiring a compact or LA RN license.

Details
  • Med/Surg-Oncology unit caring for hematology, medical oncology, bone marrow transplant (BMT), and gynecologic/surgical oncology patients
  • 7-bed positive pressure wing dedicated to BMT and acute leukemia patients
  • Performs bedside CVC placements and bone marrow biopsies
  • 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio
  • Uses Epic-integrated Alaris IV pumps, barcode medication administration, SCD machines, and Alaris feeding pumps
  • Day shift schedule, 4x12-hour shifts from 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM
  • Every other weekend coverage required
  • Floating required
  • No call-in requirement
Requirements
  • Active compact or LA RN license required in hand upon submission
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required (AHA)
  • ONS certification preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of oncology specialty experience required
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and central/peripheral line management
  • Experience with chemotherapy administration and monitoring preferred
  • Experience with blood product administration, PICC line management, and port access preferred
  • Knowledge of isolation precautions and PPE use
  • Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and rapid response/code team protocols preferred
  • Up-to-date NURSYS report required for consideration
Additional Information
  • Provide direct patient care to oncology and BMT patients, including chemotherapy administration and monitoring
  • Support patients with hematologic, gynecologic, and surgical oncology conditions
  • Work within a positive pressure isolation environment for immunocompromised patients
  • Orientation held five days a week
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Two Manager/Supervisor references (not Charge RNs) required prior to starting contract, though not required for initial consideration
  • Candidates must live more than 65 miles from the facility to be eligible
  • Former Ochsner Health permanent staff or in-house agency contractors must have a one-year separation before returning as a travel employee
  • RTO must be disclosed and discussed during the interview process to avoid offer rescission
