Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Oncology RN for a night shift Med/Surg-Oncology position requiring Epic experience and 2+ years of specialty experience.

Details
  • Work in the Oncology unit of a hospital setting
  • Patient population includes Hematology, Medical Oncology, Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT), and Gynecologic & Surgical Oncology cases
  • Unit includes a 7-bed positive pressure wing for BMT and acute leukemia patients
  • Involves bedside CVC placements and bone marrow biopsies
  • Uses Alaris IV pumps with Epic integration, barcode medication administration, SCD machines, and Alaris feeding pumps
  • 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio
  • Night shift schedule, 4x12-hour shifts from 18:45 to 7:15
  • Weekend coverage required every other weekend
  • Floating required
  • No call-in requirement
Requirements
  • Active RN license, Compact or LA license required in hand upon submittal
  • Current AHA-certified BLS and ACLS required
  • ONS certification preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of specialty experience required
  • Epic charting system experience required
  • Skills in IV therapy/phlebotomy and starting/maintaining IVs required
  • Experience with chemotherapy administration and monitoring preferred
  • Experience with central line blood draws, PICC line management, and port access/management preferred
  • Experience with blood product administration and peripheral line care preferred
  • Up-to-date NURSYS report required with profile
Additional Information
  • Provide direct patient care to oncology and hematology patients, including chemotherapy administration and monitoring
  • Perform bedside procedures such as central line blood draws and bone marrow biopsy assistance
  • Manage isolation precautions and PPE protocols for immunocompromised patients
  • May be assigned to an Emergency Team during facility emergency events, requiring extended stay or relief team participation
  • Orientation held five days a week
  • Candidates must live more than 65 miles from the facility to be eligible for the travel position
  • RTO must be disclosed and discussed during the interview process to avoid offer rescission
  • Two Manager/Supervisor references (Charge RNs not accepted) required to obtain clearance to start, though not required at submission
  • Candidates who previously worked as permanent staff or in-house agency contractors at the facility must have a one-year separation before returning as a traveler
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
