American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring 2 years of specialty experience and a compact or LA RN license in hand.
Requirements- Active RN license (Compact or LA) required in hand upon consideration
- BLS required; ACLS preferred
- Minimum 2 years of specialty experience required
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
- Skilled in IV therapy/phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, PICC line management, and starting/maintaining IVs
- Experience with chest tube management, oxygen administration, and tracheostomy care
- Experience managing cardiac dysrhythmias and monitoring
- Experience with IV insulin protocols and titration of insulin drips
- Knowledge of isolation precautions and PPE use
- Up-to-date NURSYS report required for consideration
- Driver's license required for consideration
- PCU/Cardiac Telemetry/MS-Tele/Neuro Stepdown unit setting
- Patient ratio of 1:4-5
- Night shift, 3x12 hour shifts (18:45-7:15)
- No call-in required
- Epic EMR experience preferred
- Provide care for cardiac telemetry, PCU, and neuro stepdown patients including CVA, seizure disorders, and spinal cord injury cases
- Administer medications including heparin protocols and PCA, and monitor procedural sedation
- Manage substance withdrawal and genitourinary care including continuous bladder irrigation
- Orientation held five days a week
- Two Manager/Supervisor references required prior to starting contract (Charge RNs not accepted)
- Candidates must reside more than 65 miles from the facility; local candidates not accepted
- Former permanent staff or in-house agency contractors must be separated from the health system for one full year before returning as a traveler
- All requested time off (RTO) must be listed on the profile and discussed during interview to avoid offer rescindment
