Travel RN - Surgical ICU

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Surgical ICU position requiring 2+ years of SICU experience and a compact or LA RN license.

• Active RN license (Compact or LA) in hand upon consideration
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years of experience in Surgical ICU setting required
• Travel experience required; first-time travelers not accepted
• Experience with hemodynamic monitoring including CVP and CRRT required
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, central venous pressure monitoring, and drip titration required
• Experience with post cardiac surgery and pre/post cardiac cath intervention required
• Experience with IV therapy including blood product administration, central line management, and PICC line management required
• Experience with chest tube insertion/removal and care of ventilated patients required
• Driver's license required for consideration
• Updated NURSYS report required

• Surgical ICU unit within a hospital setting
• 1:2 patient ratio
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 18:45 to 07:15
• Every other weekend required
• Potential floating to other ICUs and step-down units
• No call-in requirement
• Epic EMR experience required
• Provide direct patient care for surgical ICU patients including post-cardiac surgery and transplant recovery cases
• Preferred experience includes liver, kidney, pancreas, heart, or lung transplant recovery, high acuity ICU, and LVAD/RVAD care
• Holiday coverage required for 2 of 4 designated holiday periods:
  Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's
• Must reside more than 65 miles from the facility; local candidates not accepted
• Two manager or supervisor references required prior to starting contract (charge RN references not accepted)
• Candidates who previously worked as permanent staff or in-house agency contractors must have a 1-year separation before returning as travelers
• All requested RTO must be included on the candidate profile and discussed during the interview
• Orientation is held five days a week
• May be assigned to an emergency response team during declared emergency events, with expectation to remain onsite or serve as part of a relief team
