American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Surgical ICU position requiring 2+ years of SICU experience and an active compact or LA RN license.
Details- Surgical Intensive Care Unit setting at a medical center
- Night shift, 3x12 hours (18:45-07:15)
- 13-week assignment
- Patient ratio of 1:2
- Every other weekend required
- Floating potentially to other ICUs and step-down units
- No call-in required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Active RN license (Compact or LA) required in hand
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Minimum 2 years of Surgical ICU experience required
- Previous travel nursing experience required; unit will not accept first-time travelers
- Experience with hemodynamic monitoring including CVP and CRRT required
- Experience required in cardiac monitoring, post cardiac surgery care, pre/post cardiac cath intervention, chest tube insertion/removal, and care of ventilated patients
- IV therapy experience required including blood product administration, central line management, and PICC line management
- Drip titration experience required
- Driver's license required for consideration
- Current NURSYS report required for consideration
- Provide direct patient care for high-acuity surgical ICU patients including post cardiac surgery and pre/post cardiac cath intervention cases
- Experience with liver, kidney, pancreas, heart, or lung transplant recovery is a plus but not required
- LVAD/RVAD experience is a plus
- May be assigned to an emergency response team during facility emergencies, which could require remaining onsite until the event concludes or serving on a relief team
- Must be willing to work 2 of 4 designated holiday periods annually (Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's)
- Orientation held 5 days a week
- Must reside more than 65 miles from the facility; local candidates not accepted
- Candidates who previously worked as permanent staff or in-house agency contractors must have been separated from the health system for at least 1 full year before returning as a traveler
- RTO must be disclosed on profile and discussed during interview to avoid offer rescission
- Two manager or supervisor references required prior to starting contract (charge RN references not accepted)
