Job Description:
The Emergency Medicine Clinician at the School of Veterinary Medicine (SVM) at Louisiana State University is designed to act as a regularly scheduled staff doctor that will participate in receipt and management of clinical patients presented to the VTH Small Animal Emergency Service. As part of the clinical duties, working schedules include nights, weekends, holidays, and disaster relief on an as needed basis in addition to or in lieu of normal daytime working hours.
The clinician will participate in daily clinical teaching activities involving house officers (interns and residents) and veterinary students.

** Provide clinical care in the role of a veterinarian, i.e. examine patients, order tests, make diagnoses, prescribe treatments, and communicate with clients and referring veterinarians, for patients presented to their Specialty Service.
** 15%
** Supervising and assisting veterinary students, house officers, and clinicians with procedures and treatments.
** 10%
** Other duties as assigned.

* Minimum Qualifications:
** DVM or Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine or equivalent.
Specific experience:
Candidates should have successfully completed the North American Veterinary Licensing Examination (NAVLE).

* Preferred Qualifications:
** Degree: DVM with 1+ years of experience.
Specific experience:
Preferred completion of a rotating internship or its equivalent clinical experience.

Qualifications:
** Emergency Essential Personnel-This position may be required to report to campus in times of emergency and/or closure per PS-18.Operational Essential Personnel-This position may be asked to work during an official closure, but who is otherwise not required to report to the physical campus during a closure and whose absence does not present a risk to the safety, resources, and well-being of the campus per FASOP HR-01.Able
to answer phone calls after hours from students and house officers for issues regarding department. May be required to work a variety of swing shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Physical Requirements -May be required to be capable of lifting up to 50 pounds, standing or walking for prolonged periods, vision near sight, vision far sight, able to reach below the shoulder, pushing, pulling, grasping, bending, squatting, and/or twisting.
