Location: New Orleans

Laitram LLC is seeking an Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Professional to support all elements and functional areas of the Laitram EHS Management System for the Laitram business units in Harahan. The role requires a background in Environmental, Health and Safety, with Industrial Hygiene, Risk Management, and Ergonomic experience as a plus. The EHS Professional will report directly to the Corporate EHS Manager and will be based out of Laitram’s Harahan, Louisiana office.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement safety programs tailored to the organization.
  • Conduct safety audits and inspections to ensure EHS compliance and identify improvement areas.
  • Perform detailed risk assessments for various job roles and tasks to identify potential hazards.
  • Oversee incident reporting, documentation, and investigations, ensuring follow‑up actions.
  • Conduct root cause analyses of incidents and implement corrective actions.
  • Serve as internal owner for workers' compensation claims and point of contact for external insurance providers.
  • Oversee hazardous materials and waste management, ensuring compliance with regulations.
  • Monitor industrial hygiene exposures to chemical, physical, and biological hazards.
  • Conduct ergonomic assessments of workstations and tasks to mitigate ergonomic risks.
  • Coordinate with regulatory agencies and ensure timely submission of required reports, including SARA Tier 2, Solid and Hazardous Waste, and Stormwater discharge.
  • Stay updated with changes in EHS regulations and ensure continued compliance.
  • Lead safety committees, facilitating meetings and engaging employees in safety initiatives.
  • Coordinate emergency preparedness, create and maintain emergency response plans, and conduct drills and training sessions.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety or a related field.
  • Five or more years of experience in EHS management, preferably in manufacturing.
  • Proficiency in EHS management software and tools for tracking compliance and reporting.
  • Strong knowledge of EHS regulations and standards (OSHA, EPA, etc.).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills to influence and motivate others to prioritize safety and environmental responsibility.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other EHS related software.
  • Motivated, self‑managed professional capable of anticipating and reacting to the needs of multiple managers and organizational needs without direct supervision.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced certifications such as ASP, CSP, CIH, or CHMM.
  • Master’s degree in occupational health and safety or a related field.
  • Experience managing facilities across multiple locations.
