Occupational Health & Safety, Regulatory Compliance Specialist

The Occupational Health develops and administers programs that protect employees, contractors, facilities, and surrounding communities while ensuring regulatory compliance with a high degree of independence and technical leadership. The role works across HPLS functions and external partners to deliver safe, compliant, timely, and sustainable results during project execution and ongoing operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and manage occupational health policies, programs, and initiatives to promote employee health.
- Lead fire prevention and emergency response programs.
- Coordinate and manage OSHA regulatory compliance and interactions with government agencies.
- Develop, implement, and periodically audit safety and occupational-health policies, standards, procedures, and training.
- Interpret OSHA and other applicable requirements and translate them into practical site controls.
- Conduct risk assessments, job safety analyses, inspections, incident investigations, and corrective-action tracking.
- Monitor leading and lagging indicators and prepare reports, trend analyses, and recommendations for management.
- Coordinate emergency preparedness, contractor safety, permit-to-work, process safety, industrial hygiene, or fire-prevention activities as assigned.
- Support regulatory inspections and maintain complete, audit-ready compliance records.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health, Fire Protection, Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 6 years of relevant professional experience; level and scope will be calibrated to demonstrated capability.
- Demonstrated ability to manage priorities, analyze information, document work, and collaborate across functions.
- Working proficiency with Microsoft 365 and job-relevant enterprise or technical systems.
- Ability to communicate clearly in English and work effectively in a multicultural environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional working proficiency in both English and Korean is preferred.
- Safety or occupational-health experience in steel, chemical, energy, construction, or heavy manufacturing.
- CSP, CIH, CHMM, ASP, OHST, EMT, fire-protection, or related credential.
- Experience with PSM, emergency response, contractor safety, industrial hygiene, or safety management systems.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
The standard work schedule is 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; however, work hours may be changed or adjusted based on operational, project, commissioning, emergency, or business needs. This position requires on-site work and is not eligible for remote work. Work is primarily performed at the Donaldsonville location and may include office, construction, commissioning, and/or operating-plant environments depending on assignment. Must be able to comply with site PPE, security, and safety requirements;
travel between HPLS locations and vendor, partner, or project sites may be required. Reasonable accommodations will be considered in accordance with applicable law.
