Laboratory Technician - Petrochemical Testing
We are seeking a dedicated Laboratory Technician to join our team in performing a variety of chemical and physical tests on petrochemicals, utilizing industry-standard ASTM methods. This role involves testing various petroleum products, assisting with equipment calibration and maintenance, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Conduct numerous chemical and physical tests on petrochemicals, including distillations, flashpoint, petroleum density, and more, following ASTM methods.
- Assist with the calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of laboratory equipment.
- Clean glassware and test equipment to maintain a sterile work environment.
- Prepare reagents as needed for various tests.
- Record data accurately on appropriate data sheets and report findings to the LIMS system.
- Maintain quality records, control charts, and laboratory supply inventories.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and housekeeping requirements.
- Participate in cross-training activities as needed.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry or a life science degree with Chemistry coursework.
- Previous experience in third-party or petrochemical testing.
- Experience in quality assurance and wet chemistry.
- Proficiency in analytical chemistry and instrumentation.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- 1+ year of laboratory experience, ideally with ASTM methods.
- Ability to work shift work and stand for 8-hour shifts.
Work Environment
The position requires shift work in the main lab, where you will be testing various types of crude oil, refined gases, and refined fuels using ASTM methods. The work environment is dynamic and requires reporting to supervisors. Comfortable attire suitable for a laboratory setting is recommended.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Saint Rose, LA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $24.00/hr individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment. Benefits are subject to change and may be subject to specific elections, plan, or program terms.
