- Develop and apply numerical and process-based models to investigate mercury cycling in sea ice environments.
- Integrate sea-ice processes with oceanic and atmospheric components of Earth system models.
- Conduct independent research and publish findings in leading peer-reviewed journals.
- Present research results at major international scientific meetings such as AGU and other relevant conferences.
- Contribute to the preparation of grant proposals for federal funding agencies (e.g., NSF, DOE, EPA).
- Mentor and supervise undergraduate and graduate students within the research group.
- Participate in collaborative research activities and contribute to interdisciplinary projects.
- Contribute to the academic environment of the department through seminars, outreach, and departmental activities.
- Ph.D. in Earth Science, Environmental Science, Atmospheric Science, Oceanography, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in numerical modeling or Earth system modeling.
- Strong quantitative and computational skills.
- A record of peer-reviewed publications relevant to environmental or Earth system sciences.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience in biogeochemical modeling, especially related to mercury or trace metal cycling.
- Experience working with sea ice, polar processes, or cryosphere–ocean–atmosphere interactions.
- Familiarity with Earth system models or coupled modeling frameworks.
- Programming experience in Python, Fortran, or similar scientific computing languages.
- Experience mentoring students or contributing to collaborative research projects.
