We are seeking a Laboratory Technician to join our dynamic team supporting Crop Transformation Systems within Biotechnology/Trait Discovery & Optimization. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in plant science laboratory operations, tissue culture, and genome editing workflows and a proven ability to execute protocols, maintain accurate records, and contribute to process improvements.
About the RoleThe Laboratory Technician will play a key role in executing crop transformation and genome editing experiments, supporting new technology development, and maintaining a safe laboratory environment.
Responsibilities- Execute crop transformation and genome editing experiments following established protocols.
- Accurately document experimental procedures and data in database and LIMS systems.
- Support new technology development and process improvement studies, including planning, hypothesis testing, observations, data collection, and analysis.
- Follow company safety policies and maintain a safe laboratory environment.
- Participate in team support activities such as explant preparation, equipment maintenance, media assessment, culture room upkeep, and information management.
- Provide technical support with a collaborative and respectful team approach.
- Summarize and report results to supervisors and present findings internally or at external meetings as needed.
- Bachelor's or Associate's degree in plant science, biological science, genetics, horticulture, biotechnology, or related field.
- Knowledge of general laboratory operations and adherence to safety practices.
- Experience following written procedures, conducting experiments independently, sampling, and maintaining detailed records.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; familiarity with databases and/or LIMS is a plus.
- Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to work independently and as a team member.
- Plant tissue culture and transformation experience.
- Experience with genome engineering workflows and continuous improvement initiatives.
