Overview
We’re seeking an Assistant Store Manager to join our team to help with store operations, customer service and team development.
Responsibilities- Assist with store functions and day‑to‑day store activities.
- Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address any questions or concerns.
- Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom and sales floor; keep seasonal areas maintained.
- Perform opening and closing procedures.
- Process all corporate directives, including Pull & Hold/Destroy, Task Compliance, Key Survey information requests and other store communications.
- Maintain promotional effectiveness of store‑front fixtures and displays.
- Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, and record keeping (payroll, scheduling, cash register deposits and receipts).
- Maintain a well‑stocked sales floor and organized stockroom to company standards.
- Protect and secure all company assets, including store cash.
- Adhere to safety guidelines and ensure all associates follow company policies.
- Help the Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
- Maintain a positive, safe, and respectful environment with professional and friendly interactions.
- Keep the store clean: bathrooms, floors, trash, and overall neatness.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Assist in obtaining necessary licenses for alcohol and/or tobacco sales, if applicable.
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
- Ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives (e.g., merchandise schematics).
- Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment (preferred).
- Physical ability to lift up to 55lbs. and perform frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and repetitive lifting.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills.
- Ability to work in a high‑energy, team environment.
- Exceptional customer service, organizational, and communication skills.
- Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.
- Prior experience meeting safety guidelines and loss‑prevention protocols.
- Knowledge of background‑check processes for alcohol/tobacco licensing (preferred).
