Team Summary

The Technical Sales Representative (TSR) position is a critical team member of our Commercial Coatings Sales team.

Job Summary

This exciting position will work to strengthen our presence in the Commercial Roof Coatings industry by identifying opportunities, generating leads, deepening the customer network, teaching and demonstrating products. The ideal candidate must maintain contractor targets and project lists to ensure proper balance and alignment with the opportunities to support the Liquid Applied Systems sales strategy within their territory. This role will be accountable for influencing the key decision makers in the commercial construction process to increase sales opportunities for GAF and its customer base.

Duties
  • Influence key decision makers in the commercial construction process including architects, landscape architects, owners, state, county and city departments, engineers, builders, general contractors, developers and subcontractors.
  • Manage, track and distribute significant projects to increase sales opportunities for our customer base throughout a multi-month or multi-year sales cycle.
  • Drive demand at the distribution level through training events, tent days, and showroom displays. Build relationships at all levels of distribution including branch managers, inside and outside sales, and purchasing departments.
  • Build relationships with the current Preferred Contractor base. Identify gaps in the market and identify target contractors for conversion. Train our contractors on and off the roof when appropriate. Support contractors with roof evaluations, adhesion tests, and project specific specifications.
  • Own the success of our customers. Work closely with the local Preferred Contractor to pull regional project opportunities and new specifications through the customer base.
  • Utilize commercial construction database (Dodge), industry events and GAF website for lead generation. Also, utilize CRM (Salesforce) and current marketing tools (AIA presentations, literature, samples, etc.) to support selling efforts.
  • Actively participate in associations and attend trade events, such as local contractor association, local AIA chapter, and local facility manager and/or building owner associations.
Qualifications Required
  • Minimum HS Diploma with at least 5 years of demonstrated commercial sales experience in a building materials environment.
  • Bachelor’s Degree highly preferred with at least 5 years of demonstrated commercial sales experience in a building materials environment.
  • Specification Sales experience of 5+ years.
Qualifications Preferred
  • Industry experience and insights related to commercial construction, building materials, hardscapes and liquid applied systems.
  • Advanced communication and organizational capabilities.
  • Strong presentation and public speaking skills.
  • Proficient use of commercial construction databases such as Dodge Analytics and Salesforce CRM tools.
  • Ability to influence others.
  • Proficiency with Google Business Suite as well as commercial construction databases such as Dodge Analytics and CRM tools such as Salesforce.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Base salary and/or rate of pay ranges listed are exclusive of fringe benefits and potential bonuses. Individual compensation offers will be determined based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to geographic location, relevant candidate experience and skill, education, and/or qualifications.

Annual Compensation Range: $105,000 to $165,000.
