Account Manager
Location:
Harrisonburg, VA - Retail shop

Compensation- Salary Range: 75-85K
- Base plus commission
- Monday thru Friday, daytime hours

- Develops and executes sales plans using Airgas’s sales directives and guidelines to service existing accounts, obtain orders, and establish new accounts.
- Qualifies and pursues sales leads.
- Cultivates customer relationships and establishes consultative relationships.
- Links customer’s business priorities to Airgas value proposition.
- Prepares sales proposals with pricing, credit terms, and estimated delivery dates.
- Keeps current with industry insights, product mixes, competition, pricing, and merchandising techniques.
- Partners with internal resources to achieve growth objectives and maintain clear communication across departments regarding customer successes and opportunities.
- Maintains and submits sales reports (daily call reports, weekly work plans, monthly and annual territory analyses) as required by District Manager through SAP.
- Reviews and manages existing customer Accounts Receivable balances to minimize working capital investment and financial risk.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Minimum of 3 years of prior outside business‑to‑business sales experience, including proven solution‑selling concepts and a demonstrated history of managing customers throughout a defined sales territory.
- Familiarity with industrial and specialty gases, or industrial gas/welding supply sales.
- Knowledge of customer segmentation and prioritization of high‑value customers.
- Consultative sales approach providing multiple layers of value and solutions.
- Deep knowledge of customer business, macro‑ and micro‑economic trends, industry trends, and new business opportunities.
- Working knowledge of SAP.
- Excellent organizational, written and oral communication, listening, and presentation skills.
- Strong PC skills (Windows, Word, Excel, email) and ability to adapt to a PC‑based order‑entry system and wireless handheld scanning device.
- Self‑starter, self‑motivated, operates with urgency, and can work independently.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and planning skills.
- Ability to solve practical problems with limited standardization.
- Reliable transportation, current driver’s license, and minimum liability insurance.
- Bachelor’s degree in a science, business, or related field preferred; up to four years of additional related experience may be considered.
- May be required to remain stationary for extended periods, including in a vehicle.
- May need to traverse office or manufacturing locations sometimes.
- Active listening and communication required.
- Frequent use of computer, telephone, and operation of motor vehicle.
- May need to lift or move up to 60 pounds.
- Frequent local travel (approximately 75% of work time).
- Minimal overnight travel.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Job requires visitation of customer sites in varying environments.
