This position requires a Federal Grain Inspection Service (FGIS) certification for testing aflatoxin. Certification must be obtained within 90 days of hire. Job Duties:

• Testing for aflatoxin levels in corn or observing elevator personnel in the testing of aflatoxin.
• Take the required samples of agricultural commodities from barges and railcars. Samples may be taken by hand which requires the use of a probe or monitor the automatic sampler.
• Assist with the disposal of samples after all required tests and holding period is complete.
• Perform a visual inspection of barges and railcars before commodities are loaded and ensure all noted irregularities are corrected.

Other duties as may be assigned

Functional Requirements:

• FGIS Aflatoxin Certification
• Moderate light lifting, 30 pounds with occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds
• Walking and standing (8 hours)
• Climbing stairs and occasionally ladders
• Reaching above shoulders and carrying specialized equipment needed to perform duties
• Drive a vehicle to perform inspections
• Climbing on and off transport

Environmental Factors:

• Working indoors and outdoors
• Excessive heat and humidity
• Slippery and uneven walking surfaces
• Occasionally working in moderately cold temperatures for short periods of time
• Exposed to grain dust, bad odors from farm animals, chemicals, fertilizers and other agricultural materials
• Required to wear appropriate safety protection
