This job plans, organizes, manages and controls activities related to operating room inventory management. It manages the tracking of inventory under the OR service unit leadership from acquisition to use or disposal. The role develops, implements, and monitors strategies for supply cost reduction and utilization management, and manages the Lawson inventory system for the OR. It also manages the supply inventory within the Surgical Information System and maintains accurate and up‑to‑date inventory and billing procedures in SSI, fostering an effective relationship between the surgical team and the materials management division.

Education

Required – High school diploma or equivalent.

Work Experience

Required – 5 years of experience in an inventory management or customer‑focused role in healthcare materials management. Alternatively, 3 years of experience in an inventory management or customer‑focused role in healthcare materials management with a bachelor’s degree.

Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities

(KSAs)
  • Knowledge of operating room supplies/medical products and computerized inventory systems.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally.
  • Proficiency in using computers, software, and web‑based applications.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage a pre‑programmed database.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to be self‑directed and manage major projects with limited supervision.
  • Ability to work variable hours.
Job Duties
  • Develops and maintains an effective supply management system.
  • Provides effective management of processes for OR supply, inventory control and receiving.
  • Ensures proper implementation and maintenance of the Lawson Supply Management System as it pertains to the OR.
  • Ensures proper maintenance of the supply database and preference cards within SIS.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
