The Louisiana Office of Juvenile Justice (OJJ) is committed to protecting the public by providing safe and effective individualized services to youth, who will become productive, law‑abiding citizens.
We are seeking responsible and vigilant individuals to serve as Security Officer (WAE). These part‑time/as‑needed roles support the safety and security of juvenile justice facilities by helping maintain order, prevent incidents, and promote a safe environment for youth, staff, and visitors. This position is ideal for candidates who are flexible, dependable, and passionate about public service and youth rehabilitation.
Minimum QualificationsA valid Louisiana Driver’s License.
Preferred QualificationsHigh School Diploma.
Supervision ReceivedClose supervision from a Juvenile Justice Specialist 4 or higher level position.
Supervision ExercisedNone.
Job Duties- Monitor entrances, exits, and facility grounds to ensure security and prevent unauthorized access.
- Conduct routine patrols and report any safety concerns or suspicious activity.
- Assist in emergency situations, including evacuations or incident response.
- Enforce facility rules and support staff in maintaining order.
- Complete logs, incident reports, and other documentation as required.
- Provide courteous assistance to visitors, staff, and youth while maintaining professional boundaries.
Work Location:
Acadiana Center for Youth in Bunkie, Louisiana.
Compensation: $18.00 per hour.
Appointment Type:
Part‑time/WAE.
Work Details:
Assist with janitorial and laundry services.
The incumbent must not have been convicted or pled nolo contendere to a crime listed in R.S. 15:587.1 (c). Prior to an appointment, the selected applicant must take and pass a drug screening test, possess a valid Louisiana Driver’s License, and clear a background check.
