The Louisiana Office of Juvenile Justice (OJJ) is committed to protecting the public by providing safe and effective individualized services to youth, who will become productive, law‑adherent citizens.

We are seeking responsible and vigilant individuals to serve as Security Officer (WAE). These temporary/as‑needed roles support the safety and security of juvenile justice facilities by helping maintain order, prevent incidents, and promote a safe environment for youth, staff, and visitors. This position is ideal for candidates who are flexible, dependable, and passionate about public service and youth rehabilitation.

• A valid Louisiana Driver's License

• High School Diploma

• Assist with clerical duties
• Assist with transports
• Monitor entrances, exits, and facility grounds to ensure security and prevent unauthorized access
• Conduct routine patrols and report any safety concerns or suspicious activity
• Assist in emergency situations, including evacuations or incident response
• Enforce facility rules and support staff in maintaining order
• Complete logs, incident reports, and other documentation as required
• Provide courteous assistance to visitors, staff, and youth while maintaining professional boundaries

Work Location:

New Orleans Regional Office in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Compensation: $18.00 per hour.

Appointment Type:
Part‑time/WAE.

Eligibility:
The incumbent must not have been convicted or pled nolo contendere to a crime listed in R.S. 15:587.1 (c).

Note:

Prior to an appointment, the selected applicant must take and pass a drug screening test, possess a valid Louisiana Driver's License, and clear a background check.
