Security Officer-Unarmed

Position Overview

This position ensures the safety and security of patients, guests, and employees on Ochsner Health properties.

• Enforce all company safety and security rules, regulations, and policies on company property.
• Conduct routine inspections of on‑site and off‑site locations.
• Investigate accidents and incidents, and report all occurrences promptly.
• Perform opening/lockdown of all buildings as approved by Administration.
• Participate in emergency response and related preparedness drills.
• Maintain required annual certifications and complete training within specified time periods.
• Operate and manage the visitor management system.
• Adapt behavior to the specific patient population, respecting privacy and communication style.

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• No prior work experience required.
• Certifications:
  
  Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire, valid driver’s license, Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) within 60 days of hire, International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) Certification within 90 days of promotion/hire.
• Computer skills for data entry and retrieval; proficiency with Windows‑style applications and keyboard.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to present information clearly to varying levels.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English.
• Flexibility to work a 24/7 schedule, including weekends, holidays, and on‑call availability.
• Physical ability to walk the entire company property, including outside areas, interior areas, and stairwells in a 11‑floor structure.

Standard work is heavy (20–50 pounds occasionally; 10–25 pounds frequently; >10 pounds constantly). Work includes walking, standing, pushing, and pulling; may involve exposure to communicable diseases and hazardous materials. Reasonable accommodations available.
