Perform protective, preventative, safety, and security‑related enforcement functions throughout the hotel complex to ensure the safety and wellbeing of guests, associates, and vendors. Implement and monitor SOPs, Mission Vision, and Values while handling emergencies, disturbances, and threats in a courteous and restrained manner.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Spend the majority of the shift on foot patrol, walking, climbing stairs, and observing the hotel’s interior and perimeter to identify potential security and safety risks or undesirable conditions. This requires verbal communication via pager and two‑way radio, bending, stooping, and kneeling.
- Maintain order in the hotel, assist with guest welfare, and address door lock problems. Coordinate expedient responses to emergencies such as fire or safety hazards through calm, rational, and persuasive actions.
- Handle undesired conduct and potential violations of hotel policy as warranted for the safety of guests, associates, patrons, and property. This includes grasping, lifting, carrying, or moving persons, packages, luggage, wheelchairs, and safety equipment using manual dexterity.
- Watch for suspicious persons entering, exiting, or loitering around the building. Conduct walk‑through observations of the entire hotel and promote safe work practices.
- Answer security telephone and safety hotline calls and respond in a timely manner based on priority.
- Observe security monitors for unusual activity; report suspicious behavior or alarms directly to the supervisor on duty via radio.
- Memorize and monitor the life‑safety system, including building layout, alarm pull stations, fire extinguisher locations, and sprinklers.
- Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis.
- Perform any other job‑related duties as assigned.
- Maintain a professional appearance and manner at all times.
- Communicate well with guests.
- Be willing to “pitch‑in” and help co‑workers, demonstrating teamwork.
- Possess thorough knowledge of the building layout, function rooms, and some knowledge of the city and surrounding areas.
- Ability to stand, walk, and/or sit continuously during the shift, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Hearing and visual ability to observe and detect signs of emergency situations, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, kneeling, and walking significant distances within the property, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to grasp, lift, and/or carry goods weighing up to 150 lbs., with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Manual dexterity in hands sufficient for job duties, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to climb stairs and ladders at a rapid pace, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to perform duties within extreme temperature ranges, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, adaptable to different audiences such as supervisors, coworkers, and the public.
