Court Security Dispatcher

NATURE OF WORK:

To provide system monitoring, incident dispatching, coordination of communication, documentation of report, assisting with access control, five (5) days a week, including holidays coverage of the building grounds and personnel of the Supreme Court of Louisiana or the Court of Appeals. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Security Director or Court Security Supervisors. Work is evaluated through review of reports, feedback from court personnel, inspection of radio dispatching, observation of professional dress and demeanor and adherence to security procedures.

Operates Control Desk
: responsible for real time access control, monitoring cameras on the interior and perimeter of the building for surveillance; responds to alarms on computer, ie; duress alarms, forced door alarms, and held open alarms within the building, accesses door locks with computer and monitors card reader system. Process housekeeping and outside vendors with security control badges.

System Monitoring
:
Continuously watch live CCTV feeds and monitor fire, intrusion, and panic and duress alarms.

Incident Dispatching
:
Process emergency and non-emergency calls, evaluate situations, and dispatch the closest or most available officer.

Coordinate
:
Maintain clear, two-way radio communications with on duty officers, and contact external services, (police, fire, EMS) when situations arise or elevate.

Document
:
Keep detailed, accurate logs and write incident reports for operational analysis and legal record-keeping.

Access Control
:
Monitor visitor and employee access and secure restricted areas of the court, occasionally assisting with credentialing or troubleshooting gate/door mechanisms.

• Knowledge of court security policies and procedures.
• Knowledge of rulesof evidence.
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing using proper English grammar and appropriate law enforcement terminology; prepare complete, factual and accurate reports of activity observed in the event of a security breach. Have the ability to remain calm and issue clear instructions under pressure.
• Ability to stand or sit for long periods. Ability to walk, talk, listen, hear, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, run, reach with hands and arms and smell as necessary to detect security risks and respond to law enforcement concerns
  .

• Dispatchers must have at least a high school diploma, clear criminal record, and no felony arrest or convictions.
• Ability to see up close, at a distance, in color and peripherally as necessary to read computer monitors, identify suspicious people and generally watch for security breaches or risks.
• Comfort in using dispatch software, MS Office, and multi-line phone systems. Able to type 30
  -40+ words per minute.
• Be able to multi-task and juggle radio traffic, phone calls, and visual monitoring simultaneously.
