This full-time, on-site Police Officer role is based at the University of New Orleans campus in New Orleans, LA. The Police Officer will patrol assigned areas, respond to calls for service, and provide visible security presence to promote the safety and well-being of students, employees, and visitors. Daily responsibilities include enforcing laws and university regulations, conducting preliminary and follow-up criminal investigations, securing and processing evidence, and preparing accurate incident and investigative reports.

The role also involves supporting crime prevention initiatives, assisting in emergency response and evacuation procedures, and collaborating with other law enforcement agencies and campus departments. The Police Officer is expected to interact professionally with a diverse campus community, uphold high ethical standards, and maintain composure in high-pressure situations.

• Demonstrated knowledge of law enforcement practices, including experience or training related to Police Officers and Police operations.
• Experience or training in handling Evidence, including collection, preservation, documentation, and chain-of-custody procedures.
• Skills in Criminal Investigations, including interviewing, report writing, and fact-finding to support case development.
• Understanding of general Law Enforcement procedures, community policing principles, and applicable local, state, and federal laws.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in criminal justice or related field preferred.
• Completion of state-mandated police academy training and eligibility to be certified or commissioned as a law enforcement officer in Louisiana.
• Strong communication, observation, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to de-escalate tense situations and work with diverse populations.
• Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, and to meet physical requirements such as standing, walking, and responding quickly in emergencies.
• Clean driving record and ability to pass background checks, psychological evaluation, and any required medical and fitness assessments.
