HMT is seeking skilled Tank Welders responsible for cutting and joining metals and other materials at our facilities or construction sites, utilizing appropriate equipment. Your role is vital in providing a safe foundation for robust infrastructure.

You should be proficient in handling potentially dangerous equipment, adhering to all safety precautions, possessing a steady hand, and demonstrating great attention to detail. Knowledge of various metals and their properties is also essential.

Tank Welder responsibilities include:

• Maintaining equipment in safe condition
• Preparing welding/cutting equipment based on the required procedures
• Using measuring tools and clamps to align components
• Assisting with fit-up and preparation of welding joints, including prying, grinding, and hammering
• Producing high-quality welds efficiently
• Inspecting welded surfaces and structures for flaws through testing and inspection
• Performing or assisting with post-weld cleanup, stripping fit-up gear, grinding, and wire wheeling
• Using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions
• Communicating with field leadership regarding safety, quality, and site concerns
• Working at heights, climbing stairs and ladders
• Adhering to all HMT and client safety policies and procedures
• Travel is required (75%+)
• Must have reliable transportation

Required Qualifications:

• At least 5 years' experience as a Welder using Flux Core (FCAW) and Stick (SMAW)
• At least 2 years' experience in Above ground Storage Tank (AST) Welding
• Ability to pass 2G/3G/4G weld tests in Flux Core and Stick Welding
• Current or in-progress TWIC Card

Preferred Qualifications:

• Extensive experience with various welding equipment and procedures, including Flux Core and Stick, and automatic welding machines like The Goat and the 3 o'clock
• Experience with cutting torch and arc gouging
• Proficiency with electrical or manual tools such as saws, squares, and calipers
• Meet all criteria for a Class B Welder
• Strong knowledge of safety standards and willingness to use protective gear
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings
• Agility, professionalism, and meticulous attention to detail
• Completion of a relevant apprenticeship program
• Professional certifications like AWS welding certificate are a plus
