Experienced Equipment Operator – CDL Required
About the PositionOur utilities depend on reliable corridors—and reliable operators. We are hiring an experienced Equipment Operator with a CDL to run a wide range of vegetation-management machinery including posi/track loaders, posi mowers, skid loaders, Sky Trim units, and Jarraff tree trimmers.
This role partners closely with Trimmers, Foremen, and Utility Representatives to safely and professionally maintain rights-of-way for cooperatives and investor-owned utilities.
Primary Duties- Operate equipment from posi mower to Jarraff in varying terrain and weather
- Demonstrate judgment around conductors, obstacles, wetlands, and customer property
- Support aerial crews by staging material, managing brush, and keeping production flowing
- Inspect and care for machines with an owner-operator mindset
- Communicate daily plans, challenges, and opportunities through our team app
- Help Ground Persons and entry-level operators advance in subjective skill mastery
- Experience: Proven experience operating a posi-track or compact track loader, with specific experience using a brush cutter or mower attachment.
- Knowledge:
- In-depth understanding of the operation, controls, and maintenance of a posi-track loader and its attachments.
- Knowledge of various types of terrain and the ability to operate the equipment safely on slopes and uneven ground.
- Familiarity with landscaping, land clearing, or groundskeeping best practices.
- Strong knowledge of traffic and highway safety rules, especially when working on or near roadways.
- Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and other relevant regulations.
- Qualifications:
- Documented experience operating UVM/ROW equipment
- Valid CDL (Class A or
B) – required - Mechanical awareness and daily-inspection habits
- Experience collaborating with bucket trimmers and foremen
- Utility vegetation background or similar heavy-equipment field
- Jarraff or aerial-support experience strongly preferred
- Certifications/Licenses:
- Valid driver's license, often with a clean driving record.
- Commercial Driver's License (CDL) may be required for transporting equipment.
- Heavy equipment operator certification is often preferred or required.
- Work is primarily performed outdoors in a variety of weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and direct sun.
- The work environment can be noisy, dusty, and may involve vibrations from the equipment.
- The operator is exposed to potential hazards associated with heavy machinery and outdoor work, such as moving parts, flying debris, and challenging terrain.
- The job may require working flexible hours, including weekends or overtime, to meet project deadlines.
