Job Description
The Communications Technician II is responsible for installing, terminating, testing, and troubleshooting structured cabling systems while supporting project workflow and team performance. This role requires technical expertise, strong problem-solving abilities, and strict adherence to safety and quality standards.
Primary Responsibilities- Install work area outlets for floor, modular furniture, and wall locations, including terminating CAT 3 and CAT 5 jacks, and correctly mounting faceplates and surface-mount boxes.
- Build and organize telecommunications closets by mounting/installing backboards, cross-connects, racks, patch panels, fiber‑optic components, and associated hardware.
- Install grounding systems for racks, equipment, and cabling in accordance with project requirements.
- Perform IDC connections, including terminating 110/66 blocks and patch panels.
- Conduct cable testing, including continuity checks for horizontal and riser cabling. Use a volt‑ohmmeter, identify and resolve issues such as opens, shorts, crosses, and transposed pairs, and operate tone sets for troubleshooting.
- Identify active voice and data circuits accurately and efficiently.
- Oversee crew performance by assigning tasks, coordinating timelines, and providing on-the-job training to ensure successful project completion.
- Complete all required documentation—such as timesheets, material transfers, work orders, change orders, and tool transfers—accurately and on schedule.
- Follow all company, customer, and industry quality and safety regulations, contributing to a safe and compliant work environment.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support project and organizational needs.
- Demonstrate self-motivation, professionalism, and a positive, solutions‑focused approach to project execution and process improvement.
- Promote the company’s culture, values, and mission when interacting with employees, clients, vendors, and business partners.
- Serve as a company representative when communicating with client personnel and stakeholders.
- Possess strong problem‑solving and critical‑thinking skills, with the ability to read, write, and deliver clear verbal and written communications.
- Work comfortably at heights, on ladders, and in confined spaces; lift up to 50 lbs and move up to 75 lbs.
- Distinguish color‑coded cabling, read small print, and recognize audible signals such as dial tones.

Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Rayville, LA.
Pay And BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $24.00 - $28.00/hr.
