Scaffold Builder Foreman – Austin Industrial (St Gabriel, LA)

The purpose of this job is to provide supervision and coordination of workers (both skilled and unskilled) engaged in various types of construction projects, such as construction, assembly, maintenance, and dismantling of tubular scaffolding or other temporary structures. The goals of this position include scheduling work to meet timetables in a safe manner, per the plans and specifications, and to meet estimated cost.

Responsibilities
  • Work at heights safely.
  • Determine the type of scaffold needed and instruct on proper installation.
  • Oversee transport of tubular scaffolding or other structural materials and erect the scaffold as instructed.
  • Hoist scaffolding materials upward to erect temporary structures.
  • Secure and level locking sections of scaffolding material.
  • Secure scaffold to the permanent structure for added stability.
  • Adhere to all OSHA, site‑specific, and Austin Industrial requirements for erecting and navigating the scaffolding.
  • Supervise dismantling of scaffolding when instructed to do so.
  • Inspect and properly stow scaffolding material after dismantling.
  • Perform final inspection of completed scaffolding.
  • Manage a small onsite equipment fleet.
  • Recruit hourly trade personnel.
  • Manage craftsmen, equipment, and material resources.
  • Plan logistics and execute project work plans.
  • Work crews productively and efficiently; meet daily cost objectives.
  • Provide training and on‑the‑job instruction.
  • Purchase unincorporated materials, tools, and supplies.
  • Maintain quality of work and ensure compliance with plans and specifications.
  • Review contract documents, submittals, shop drawings, and schematics to determine scope of work and manpower requirements.
  • Execute work plans for major components and monitor adherence.
  • Order self‑perform materials, supplies, and small tools from approved suppliers.
  • Inspect work progress and ensure adherence to tolerances, taking corrective action when necessary.
  • Manage crew coordination and promote a motivating atmosphere.
  • Support training and development of subordinates through on‑the‑job and company‑sponsored programs.
  • Recommend personnel actions and motivate workers to achieve goals.
  • Supervise subcontractor work to ensure compliance with plan, specifications, and schedules.
  • Conduct Toolbox and JHA Safety meetings and enforce safety regulations.
  • Investigate alternative work methods and materials to improve efficiency and quality.
  • Maintain daily field construction activity reports.
  • Ensure equipment is used properly and safely.
  • Interpret company policies and disseminate Equal Employment Opportunity information.
  • Conduct on‑the‑job training and record hours on the Foreman’s Daily Control.
  • Fill out Foreman’s Daily Control with employee hours, job number, cost codes, and quantities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Physical Demands

The employee is regularly required to sit, use hands and arms, stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, taste, and smell. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and may frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Required vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Qualifications
  • 5+ years of industrial and supervisory experience preferred.
  • Certifications:

    NCCER, TWIC Card, Valid Driver’s License.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States; no visa sponsorship will be provided.
