The Communications Technician II will install work area outlets for floor, modular furniture, and walls, terminating CAT3 & CAT5 jacks, mounting faceplates, and surface mount boxes. They will build closets by installing backboards, cross‑connects, racks, patch panels, and fiber optic hardware, and ground all racks, equipment, and cable as required. They will perform all IDC connections, including terminating blocks and patch panels, and test continuity on horizontal and riser cable using volt‑ohmmeter, tone set, and test for opens, crosses, shorts, and transpose pairs.
The Technician will identify active voice or data circuits, coordinate crew and personnel, ensure timely completion of work orders, timesheets, and material transfers, and maintain all safety and quality standards.
- Install and terminate CAT3/CAT5 cabling, faceplates, and surface mount boxes.
- Build and equip closets with backboards, racks, patch panels, and fiber optic hardware.
- Ground racks, equipment, and cable as required.
- Complete IDC connections and perform testing of horizontal and riser cables.
- Identify active voice and data circuits.
- Coordinate crew and personnel, manage project timelines, and provide necessary training.
- Accurately complete all required paperwork and documentation.
- Adhere to all company, customer, and industry quality and safety standards.
- Proven experience in structured cabling, fiber optics, and low‑voltage installation.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for cable continuity, cross‑connects, and electrical faults.
- Ability to read, write, and present technical information clearly.
- Physical capability to work at heights, use ladders, confined spaces, and lift up to 75 lb.
- Valid mental acuity for color discrimination, small print reading, and audible signal recognition.
- Intermediate level experience in data centers, semi‑fab, or similar environments.
The role requires self‑motivation, a positive approach, professional conduct, and the ability to implement process improvements. It also requires the ability to travel within the branch or regional territory as needed and maintain regular attendance.

Contract position based in Rayville, LA; pay $22.00/hr; fully onsite; anticipated to close on June 22, 2026.
