Operator Heavy Equipment

Job Description

An Industrial Heavy Equipment Operator will operate one or more heavy construction equipment such as a CAT 140M Blade with GPS, JD 750k Dozer with GPS, and a CAT 349 Track hoe, 740 Trucks to move earth. The position also involves safety, equipment inspections, potential assistance with repairs, and assisting other crafts during downtimes.

• Operate various construction equipment to move earth with precision.
• Inspect equipment and complete required safety inspections.
• Ensure all safety protocols are followed during equipment operation.
• Follow signal directions from a signaler when operating equipment.
• Access the area of operations to identify safety issues and collaborate on planning of equipment operations.
• Assist in other job site related tasks as assigned while not operating equipment.

• Must have 2+ years of experience as a Dirt Equipment Operator in heavy industrial construction.
• Must possess all knowledge, skills, and abilities required for the position.
• Must be able to meet all physical requirements and complete required training.
• May be required to have a valid driver’s license and pass a motor vehicle records check.
• Must have all required tools.
• Must have reliable transportation.
• Must have experience and knowledge of operating various construction equipment including bobcats, bulldozers, excavators, front-end loaders, backhoes, rollers, and graders.
• Must have basic mechanical knowledge and demonstrate the ability to inspect equipment.
• Must have knowledge of and be familiar with soil types and excavation specifications.
• Must be able to follow instructions correctly and maintain accurate equipment inspection paperwork.
• Must be willing and able to follow all instructed safety regulations.

• Current Zachry or Zachry ROF’ed employee.
• Former experience working with Zachry Industrial, Inc.
• Valid Driver’s License.

This position does not have any direct reports.

• Stand, walk, bend, squat, sit, and lift regularly.
• Communicate by talking and hearing.
• Use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, and pull objects, materials, controls, and tools.
• May be required to pick up, lift, carry, and move up to 50 lbs.
• Work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, and occasionally work off platforms or scaffolding using appropriate fall protection.
• Must work in all weather conditions while wearing appropriate PPE.
• Required PPE includes hard hat, safety glasses or goggles, ear plugs, masks or respirators, hi‑vis safety vest, leather gloves, and steel‑toed work boots.
