General Description
Assist Craftsman in the construction, erection, installation, and repairs of structures and fixtures of metal, wood, plywood, and/or wallboard using hand tools and power tools.
Essential Functions- Read and study blueprints, sketches, or building plans for information pertaining to the type of material required and dimensions of structure or fixture to be fabricated.
- Select and transport appropriate materials and tools for the job.
- Measure boards, timbers, plywood or other materials using a square, tape, and/or ruler, and mark cutting lines on material.
- Shape materials to prescribed measurements using saws, chisels, and planes.
- Assemble cut and shaped materials and fasten them together with nails, glue, or dowel pins.
- Brace forms in place with timbers, tie-rods, and anchor bolts for use in building concrete piers, footings, and walls.
- Construct forms and chutes for pouring concrete.
- Build falsework to temporarily strengthen, protect or disguise building concrete piers, footings, and walls.
- Verify trueness of structure with plumb bob and/or carpenter’s level.
- Operate survey equipment to ensure accuracy.
- Utilize basic math skills while doing surveys and for measurements and assembly of structures.
- Duties may include light administration and assistance to Project Superintendent.

Field/Jobsite Environment – Standing, sitting, climbing, crawling, standing, crouching, bending, pushing/pulling, walking on uneven surfaces, and exposure to loud noises are to be expected on a jobsite environment. This position is predominately outdoors at an Industrial Construction Site. Exposure to extreme hot or cold outside temperatures is possible.
Position Type / Expected Work HoursThis is a full‑time, hourly position. Days and hours of work vary from each jobsite. Occasional evening/weekend work or travel may be required as job duties demand.
RequiredEducation and Experience
- 2+ years of industrial field experience as an Industrial Carpenter Helper
- Must take in‑house Carpenter Helper Assessment or hold NCCER Industrial Carpenter Certification
- Must hold a valid TWIC Card
- Must hold a valid OSHA Basic Plus
- Must be able to pass all Safety Council related courses
- Must undergo Pre‑Employment Screening (physical, drug & alcohol screen, audiogram, fit test if applicable)
- Must hold a valid Driver’s License to operate company equipment and/or vehicles
