Job Title: Diesel School Bus Technician

Location: New Orleans, LA

Pay: $31-$35 per hour

Shift: 1st Shift Monday - Friday, typically starting around 7:00 or 8:00 AM

Join as a Diesel School Bus Technician in New Orleans and contribute directly to the safety and reliability of our school transportation services. You will be responsible for performing maintenance and repairs on diesel school buses, ensuring that the fleet remains operational and safe for student transportation. Position Overview

As a Diesel School Bus Technician, you will troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair diesel engines, electrical systems, heating and air conditioning systems, and other vehicle components. You will use your expertise to ensure our fleet meets all safety and compliance standards, minimizing downtime and keeping students and staff safe.

Essential Skills and Experience
  • 2 years of experience in diesel engine diagnostics and repairs
  • Proficiency in electrical troubleshooting and HVAC systems
  • Ability to diagnose check engine lights and perform repairs
  • Experience with diesel engines, including Cummins or similar brands preferred
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently
  • Owns a toolbox with the necessary tools for vehicle maintenance
  • Valid driver's license, with willingness to obtain a CDL (Commercial Driver's License) during employment
  • Reliable and safety-conscious
Additional Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Hands‑on experience in fleet or school bus maintenance is a plus
  • Previous union shop experience is desirable but not required
Other Requirements
  • Must be at least 21 or nearing age for CDL licensing
  • Able to pass DOT drug testing and background checks
  • Willing to work first shift (starting around 7:00 or 8:00 AM)
  • Capable of passing DMV, education, and employment verifications
