Communications Technician II (Structured Cabling)
Overview
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Communications Technician II to join our growing team. In this role, you'll play a key part in installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting structured cabling systems that power voice and data communications across a variety of environments-including commercial sites, data centers, and advanced facilities.

Key Responsibilities Installation & Cabling
+ Install work area outlets for floors, modular furniture, and walls
+ Terminate Cat3, Cat5, and Cat6 cabling, including mounting faceplates and surface boxes
+ Pull, route, dress, and label structured cabling systems
Closet Buildouts & Infrastructure
+ Build and install telecom closets, including racks, patch panels, and cross-connect systems
+ Install backboards, fiber optic components, and related hardware
+ Ensure proper grounding of racks, equipment, and cabling
+ Perform IDC terminations (110/66 blocks and patch panels)
Testing & Troubleshooting
+ Conduct cable testing (continuity, riser, and horizontal cabling)
+ Identify and resolve issues such as opens, shorts, crosses, and transposed pairs
+ Use testing tools including volt-ohmmeters and tone generators
+ Identify active voice and data circuits
Project & Team Coordination
+ Support crew leadership by coordinating personnel and project timelines
+ Assist in training junior technicians
+ Act as a liaison between the company and customer representatives
Documentation & Compliance
+ Accurately complete all project documentation (timesheets, work orders, change orders, material logs, etc.)
+ Follow all company, customer, and industry safety and quality standards
Qualifications Required Skills
+ Structured cabling installation and troubleshooting
+
Experience with Cat5, Cat6, and low-voltage systems
+ Strong knowledge of telecommunications infrastructure and cable installation practices
+ Proficiency with punch-down techniques and cable testing tools
Preferred Experience
+ IT support or data center environment experience
+ Exposure to semiconductor (semi fab) or technical manufacturing environments
+ Background in structured cabling or telecom projects
Soft Skills
+ Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities
+ Excellent communication and teamwork skills
+ Ability to read, write, and present information clearly
+ Self-motivated with a positive, professional attitude
Physical Requirements
+ Ability to work at heights, on ladders, and in confined spaces
+ Lift up to 50 lbs and move up to 75 lbs
+ Visual acuity to distinguish colors and read small print
+ Ability to hear and recognize audible signals
+ Willingness to travel within regional territory as needed

This is a Contract position based out of Rayville, LA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr.
