A trusted fleet maintenance provider specializing in aerial equipment is hiring a Heavy Equipment Shop Supervisor in New Orleans, LA to oversee shop workflow and repairs. Duties & Responsibilities Supervise technicians and mechanics working on bucket trucks, digger derricks, cranes, lifts, related trailers, and similar heavy equipment.
Coordinate daily work orders, schedules, repair priorities, parts, and resources to keep shop operations moving efficiently.
Provide technical guidance for troubleshooting, diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
Oversee inspections, preventive maintenance, repairs, quality control, and documentation to support safe, reliable equipment operation.
Enforce safety procedures, conduct shop inspections, address hazards, and support compliance with industry and DOT standards.
Train and develop shop personnel, communicate with management, customers, vendors, and other departments, and recommend process improvements.
Requirements
Required:
5+ years of heavy equipment mechanic experience with strong hands-on hydraulic repair experience.
Hands-on experience maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing aerial equipment such as bucket trucks, digger derricks, cranes, lifts, trailers, or similar equipment.
Working knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems, including technical manuals, schematics, and hydraulic or electrical diagrams.
Leadership experience in a shop or workshop environment, with the ability to assign work, set priorities, train technicians, and support team performance.
Strong organizational, communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills, with experience using MS Office or shop management software.
Working knowledge of aerial equipment safety practices, DOT requirements, quality standards, and safe shop operations.
High school diploma or equivalent CDL required or must be obtained within 12 months of hire must complete pre-employment criminal background check, drug screening, and fitness for duty physical.
Preferred:
Technical or vocational degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
2+ years of management experience.
5+ years of aerial equipment experience.#SJ1 Compensation:$35.00 – $45.00/hour starting pay based on previous experience
Overtime available and paid after 40 hours/week
