Full‑time, regular position at Audubon Zoo, New Orleans, LA, US.

Duration: 5 days ago – position still open.

This position is responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining pumps, pipes, fixtures, and other plumbing used for water distribution and wastewater disposal throughout the Zoo and Park.

• Act autonomously and professionally in all areas of responsibilities.
• Respond to work requests in a timely manner.
• Repair and replace property including, but not limited to, motors, pipes, and plumbing.
• Recommend changes and solutions to facilities related issues.
• Maintain all building codes and installation requirements.
• Report safety concerns or hazards to the Plumbing Manager.
• Accomplish other tasks as may be required and assigned.
• Follow all guidelines, rules, or regulations regarding Zoo and Park operations.
• Follow all regulations regarding animal safety and care.
• Participate in continuing education classes as deemed necessary by Facilities Director.
• Work flexible hours, overtime, evenings, and weekends as needed.
• Oversee all water features within the zoo and park, including Cool Zoo.
• Assist with Cool Zoo and lazy river repairs as needed.

• Journeyman certification in Plumbing from a recognized accredited post‑secondary institution.
• High School Diploma.
• Minimum three years of experience working with electric motors, pumps, and plumbing.
• Ability to use mobile devices, computers, fax, scanner, phone, and copy machine.

• Ability to operate equipment such as backhoes, skid steers, and forklifts.

• Must exert up to 75 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
• Must sit or stand, bend, stoop, and carry items weighing up to 75 pounds.
• Maintain constant adequate range of motion and mobility.
• Maintain near acuity with clarity of vision at 20 inches or less.
• Collect and analyze numerical and written data to reach logical conclusions.
• Determine time, place, and sequence of operations or actions required.
• Communicate with regular speaking and listening abilities.
• Perceive the nature of sounds with regular hearing abilities.
• Read, record, or type data quickly and accurately.
