Traffic Signal Technician; Senior; Class Code 2052

Skilled work in the installations, maintenance and repair of traffic signals, and related work as required.

• Permanent status as a Traffic Signal Technician with the Department of Public Works.
• Eligibility for original entrance:
  • Two (2) years full‑time experience servicing or installing electrical equipment devices.
  • Or completion of a course in Basic Electricity or Electronics from a recognized trades school.
• Before appointment, the hiring agency verifies all credentials claimed by the applicant; original documents must be provided prior to the start date.
• All applicants must pass a qualifying written examination; promotional employees are exempt.
• Experience credit counts only for experience gained within the last ten (10) years.
• Good moral character is required of all applicants.
• Veterans, disabled veterans, certain spouses and parents may receive additional credit; a Veterans Preference claim with required proof (e.g., DD214) must be submitted before the final filing date.
• Applicants must have a current driver’s license or other acceptable picture identification.
