House of Blues venues provide several genres of live music including Rock, Hip Hop, Country, Blues, Jazz, Reggae and Pop, and also provide southern‑style cuisine and a world famous Gospel Brunch.
Serve alcoholic and non‑alcoholic beverages and food to guests in a restaurant atmosphere with a cheerful attitude and in an efficient, professional manner.
Responsibilities- Interact with guests in a natural, friendly demeanor
- Cultivate regular guests and repeat business
- Successfully complete a pour test prior to every shift, where applicable
- Suggestively sell both beverages and menu items to guests at the bar
- Deliver food items and beverage orders promptly
- Prioritize and organize drink orders
- Consistently prepare beverages according to standard recipes and venue specifications, abiding by all control systems
- Record any equipment failure and/or safety hazards in the bar log
- Recognize when guests are becoming too intoxicated and refuse further alcohol service in a courteous and safety‑minded manner, bringing it to the attention of a manager
- Ensure responsible alcohol service per local ordinance, alcohol awareness training and HOB alcohol policies
- Request proper identification for anyone appearing under 30 years of age
- Maintain HOB safety and sanitation standards
- Perform opening, running and closing duties according to HOB policy
- Prepare guest checks on the point‑of‑sales terminal and process payments according to HOB policy
- Maintain bartender bank and perform cash pull/check‑out procedures
- Maintain appropriate comp and spill checks
- Occasionally work special events scheduled throughout the venue
- State or County Licensed or Certification requirement
- Responsible Alcohol Awareness Training Certification or Equivalent
- Ability to work late hours and a flexible schedule
- Cash handling experience
- Must be able to lift or move up to 25 pounds using proper lifting techniques
- Skill in interpersonal communication and teamwork
- Physically able to pass a pour test and a mixology drill (timed)
- Ability to deal with intoxicated guests in a positive and safety‑minded manner
- Tolerance of all cultures, music and art forms
- 4 years of work experience in a high‑volume environment
- Experience recognizing valid IDs
- Experience in a live music environment
- Fast‑paced, often loud and stressful environment
- Extended periods of prolonged standing and working on your feet
- Must be able to lift or move up to 25 pounds using proper lifting techniques
